Full Job Description

Job Description: Package products while ensuring quality and specification adherence. The Production Worker's responsibilities include keeping the production area clean, preparing machinery and equipment for use, working the production line as instructed, and strictly following health and safety guidelines. Work on the production line with consistent speed and accuracy. Be able to maintain production standards and work towards improving productivity without compromising quality.

Essential Functions:

  • Properly package products. Place the appropriate product within the packaging machine, box, or onto a pallet.
  • Verify that the product is within all specifications of the product being packaged (ie. Weight, piece count, fat cover, labeling, film, etc.)
  • Arrange and maintain work area and equipment to assist in efficiency, safety, and reduction of waste (i.e. Scales, floor mats, boxes, etc.)
  • Assemble, weigh, tape, label, code date, scan and palletize boxes where necessary.
  • Comply with all safety, ergonomic, HACCP, and plant policy programs. Complies with the requirements of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP).
  • Actively support workplace safety by maintaining a safe work area, and following all accident prevention policies and procedures.
  • Maintain yield and pph standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Decision Making:

  • Consult a QA, Lead, or Supervisor with all quality-related decisions. Every associate has the authority to stop production when specifications/food safety/ safety procedures are not being followed.

Communication:

  • Ability to follow instructions given by supervision.
  • Ability recognizes and control waste within supplies, machinery, and food products.
  • Ability to visually inspect products, equipment, and processes.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral and written communication.
  • Ability to understand production schedules, safety signs, scales, product labels, and company policies/procedures.

Physical and Environmental:

  • Activities such as (but not limited to) walking, lifting, bending, stooping, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, twisting, and turning.
  • Constant movements (motions) of the wrists, elbows, hands, and fingers are required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
  • Requires standing for the entirety of the shift (minus break/rest periods).
  • Subject to temps ranging from 30 degrees to 50 degrees constantly.
  • Subject to noise levels higher than 85 decibels, hearing protection is required to be worn.Subject to (but not limited to) moving mechanical parts, machinery, forklifts, pallet jacks, and wet environment.
  • Exposure to chemicals is minimal.
  • Exposure to food seasonings and additives is likely.
  • Must follow all JBS safety policies and procedures.
  • Necessary PPE will be provided.
